Mr. Farooq Naik is a lawyer by profession and is also one of the party leaders of PPP. He beacame the Minister for Law and Justice after the elections of 2008. He is also responsible for matters related to Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs.  He is also heading the committee set up for making amendments in the constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Mr. Naik was nominated as the Chairman senate which is second highest office of the country, as Chairman Senate can take over Presidential responsibilities in absence of the President. He was nominated by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari for this seat and he is now the unopposed Chairman Senate.
