Hameed Gul started his army career in 1954. He was the tank commander in the war of 1965 & has also been awarded with Sitara-E-Jurat & Sitar-E-Imtiaz . He later became the ISI commander.
Hameed Gul conducted the Zarb-E-Momin military exercise. He is also a vehement supporter of the Kashmir insurgency against India, and is accused by the United States of having ties to al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
