Project: Road to Inspiration ‘Road to inspiration’ is a project that was conceived at the beginning of 2008. Handcycling is a relatively new adaptive sport for people with physical challenges. I will cover an enduring distance in a certain time frame. This is a symbolic event to mainly highlight the challenges brought due to spinal cord injury. The role of sports in rehabilitation and main streaming. |
How and when will it happen?
On 28th March the cycling will start at tentatively 4PM from F-9 Park Islamabad and will cover a marathon distance on a specified route within the city of Islamabad, finishing at F-9 park. It will be a solo run along with escort and safety vehicle.
Will it be covered by media?
Major local & international media have been contacted and this effort will be promoted via electronic, print and radio.
Branding for Investors?
Branding of sponsors will be on Back drop of start & finish, escort vehicle, team T-Shirts and Helmet/caps.
Will it help anyone else?
It will help people understand that no matter how sever the confinement one can still do what they set their mind to and will also help improve image of physically challenged. This effort is symbolic highlighting:
1. What is spinal cord injury?
2. Living with physical disability
3. Role of sports in rehab and mainstreaming
4. How to prepare for endurance events of sports & life in general
Why am I doing this?
To introduce adaptive/disability sports in Pakistan.
Aren’t there better ways to achieve the same results?
There are many ways to communicate the same message, however, sports is one of the key ways of rehabilitation and mainstreaming hence it must be promoted.
