Shahabaz Sharif is a graduate from Lahore. He is a succesful business man and played a vital role in the success of Ittefaq group of companies.
He was elected in Punjab Assembly in 1988 elections and in National Assembly is 1990. He became the leader of opposition in 1993. In 1997 he was elected as the leader of the house and became the Cheif Minister of Punjab in 1997.He remained in office for the same till 1999 until the Government was toppled.
He was elected as the President of PML-N in 2002 and was re-elected for the second term in 2006. He has represented Pakistan at various forums including the UN. His keynote speech at Geneva at the International Labour Conference was also appreciated around the world.
He is also one of the biggest supporter of the restoration of the judges and long march.
